Early mornings when camping in a campground.  The air’s cool, the light has a soft, almost fuzzy texture, and all the sounds are small and low.  There’s something comfortable about seeing early risers poking around, hair and clothing all mussed, getting stoves and fires lit, stretching, sitting on picnic benches alone or talking quietly.  Warming my not-so-clean hands with a cup of hot coffee.

Other things:  head rubs from my wife, art supplies, joking with my family and friends, sampling Belgian beers with a psychologist buddy, hearing live music when it's done well.  Eating a good steak when it's not done well.

I simply remember my favorite things . . .

I enjoy being at the ballpark on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, drinking a cold beer, eating hotdogs, and watching a good ball game.

I love a good Mexican food dinner with lots of green chile.

I enjoy long drives in the country on roads I've never been.

And last but not least,  getting quads for a huge pot playing Texas Hold 'em at the casino.

Forgot to mention jalapeno or habenero potato chips and salsas.  Almost anything is good with hot sauce on it!

I was flying this morning over the hills near Sacaton Az and was overwhelmed with nostalgia. This picture encompasses two of my favorite things, flying and.... geography, while flying T-37s at Williams AFB we used this mountain as a turn piont. We  gave it a name , can you guess what an air force pilot might name it? I swear it got taller in cold weather.  hee hee  :0)

Jerry:
What year were you training at Willy?  My ex father-in-law was the Training Squandron Commander there  in the early 70's -- Lt. Col. Leland Kirk.  Does the name ring a bell?  I suspect he was a real pistol!

I've fantasized about zip-lining into the Grand Canyon.  Wonder if I could zip-line from Seattle down to the reunion in October?  Wonder how long that would take?  Probably would have to go into the parking lot at Rustler's Rooste 'cause the patio's higher.  Would need to do a calculation on that to be sure.

Louie, how's that for diverging?  Paulette sounds a thrill seeker.

OK, Paulette.  Either you put up your zip-line picture from Canada from the beginning of June, or I will.  It's a hoot and it looks like you're having a great time.  (That is, I'll send it to Pat and she'll do it for me giving me all the credit).
Glad to hear from you again.  I get worried about people on this site that we haven't heard from in awhile (Peter).  I'm such a Mom.
Did you see where Mrs. DeVinny wrote in and is coming to the reunion, and so is Mrs. Demicell?  You were the only one I knew that did both cheer and Pom, and therefore knew them both, and now you're on to zip-lining?

Paulette,

OK.  I'm an idiot.  I'll check the pictures first, before I request others.  That really is a great one.  Glad you posted it for all to see.  Our daughter, Debbie spent a summer in Costa Rica with Baylor supposedly learning Spanish, with a girlfriend.  Not sure how much Spanish they learned, but they did get to zipline.

I'm sure that Spanx would be one of my favorite things if I could ever try them.  Ziplining in Spanx.  What a thought.

Great, Paulette.
Now that song is stuck in my head!
Speaking of that song, I remember dancing across the movie theater parking lot singing, 'The hills are alive with the sound of music!'  I think Linda might have been the unfortunate person with me.

Paulette said no to Reggie Jackson--Good Move! Zip lining in Spanx Larry, is that what you want to do  LOL.

Diane is going to post a picture. That way I can see what it is. Is it like Rappelling? I will Google this one.

What Paulette wrote their is really nice. I do not know that I ever sang to my Daughters. But I made them real strong. After what I watched my Daughters do to the guys in their High School.

In our late 50's we all still a lookin good. Even you guys {:

Question:  Are you Googling Rappelling or Spanx?

Diane

I Googled Spanx and Zip Lining. I have Rappeled out of Choppers. I had the right idea. I have never heard of Ziplining. There is 69k websites for Zip Lining or Fox Running. Pretty Popular. Ebay brought up Spanx and I was right about those  {:

I've been gone 20 years and know the answer to that:  back end of Canyon Lake.

Have been wondering how many people would list singing as one of their favorite things.  I sing in the car to James Taylor, Donald Fagen, and Karen Carpenter -- we have similar ranges.  Nothing like a good melody.

In no special order, I like:

sleeping straight through the night
counting money
having a busy day
cooking a good dinner
throwing the ball for my german sheperd, Thunder
writing and reading
savoring what is grown in my garden
doing facial, hand and foot exercises
having fingernails that will grow
dreaming of playing the french horn again

Did you ever Tape yourself singing with those guys? I sing in my Truck. Usually with Steven Tyler--this started my Day with a laugh.

Sleeping through the Night all Night. Thats a Good One. I wake to often at 1am and lay awake thinking of stuff I forgot to do. So now Iget up and write it down and that helps a lot.

Louie,

Your not sleeping well explains the time stamp on some of your postings!

About 3 years ago my right thumb went dead. I mean it literally wouldn't do anything - bend, grip, etc. I found out I had cartilage problems there. Most people have this problem in their spine or hip, and I truly feel sorry for those people, as I know what I went through with my thumb!

I started drinking a liquid vitamin supplement, on general principal alone, and to my surprise, several things happened. The first thing I noticed was that my sleep became deeper and longer. The next thing that happened was a patch of excema-like skin on my elbow cleared up. And the final thing that happened was I regained the complete and total use of my thumb. I drank the supplement for 3 months before the thumb recovered, but the sleep improvement was almost instantaneous.  The older I get the more I value the benefit of sleep. If you look for a neutraceutical vitamin, go for a liquid one. That way your body will absorb all of it.

Phyllis, mind if I ask what Vit. Suppl. you found to have those beneficial effects?  The sleep enhancement thing got my attention.

Thanks!

When I went for my Degree in Psychology in 1997. One of the people I studied was the Famous Dr. Watson -Rats-. Watson is quoted on himself saying that he never learned more than when he started his Day at 4am. Some Psychologists say we need to follow a Day to Day Norm to get good sleep. So I make it a point to go to bed at 8pm and get up at 4am everyday. You are catching me having coffee and sitting at the computer. Rested and nothing wrong. No phones or questions just a peaceful Morning. Everytime I sleep in on week ends I find myself screwed up for one or two days in my sleep routine. But about One Day a week I still always spend a lot of time awake at Night. Usually a Tuesday or Wednesday.

I am interested in this Liquid Vitamin Supplement. 'Like Jim does'. Hi Jim Z. Currently I take a Silver Multiple with an extra dose of Pottassium in the pill forms...

Thanks Phyllis,
Louie
