Ok, I know this topic sounds lame, but I have no idea what appropriate clothing would be for the reunion. Looking at the pics of the 20 year reunion, we all looked like we were dressed for a wedding or a cocktail party. I don't even own clothes like that anymore!
Well, I plan to start with clean underwear (boxers) --ya never know when you might be in an accident (mom always said)!! I think I'll pass on the tank top -- my midlife tats have hair in all the wrong places-- and opt for sport shirt --no ties for me!! Clip ons were so easy but not too cool. I'll stick to blue jeans -- pleated dockers are so 90's. Maybe boots -- they make me look taller.
Does that help any, Phyllis??
Just be there! That's all I care about!! This is going to be all kinds of fun!!
Understand, this is merely a suggestion, so don't run out and pick this up yet. Christy and I like to put on these outfits (see attached pic) just to show we havent lost that sparkle. HOT!!! I havent decided on the hat yet. It takes a special person to pull it off in such a stunning outfit. :0)
Phyllis,
I'd wear my birthday suit except I can't get the wrinkles out.
So ill go with blue jeans and a western shirt, like Vicky Smith's
picture on her horse. Great picture Vicky! Donaldson will probably
go like the rear end of the horse
Tommy
I would imagine you are hanging on the guys every word about what they are going wear. First of all, I'm so very grateful Gary is staring with clean underwear. Might I suggest we all do that?
Seriously, part of the reason we picked Rustler's Rooste is because it's casual. We didn't feel like most would want to dress up, like we did for the 20th, even though that worked 20yrs. ago. We wanted to keep the price down hoping to assure a better turnout and not have anyone excluded because of the economy. We figured most could save up the $50 per head by October.
I think it was Gary that said it best.' We just want to see each other'. It isn't about our clothes (but you can bet, some are searching long and hard for just the right outfit...me). BTW, Larry told me he already has his shirt picked out.
I would imagine most will start with levis/jeans and build upon that. Maybe some kakais or black pants, probably some shorts(depending on the weather) , and maybe some casual dresses or skirts. Does that help? No doubt others will add their 2 cents. Personally, I'm starting with Spanx.
I think Diane said it just right, casual is the most comfy and fits right in with the decor. If we all wear what makes us feel good and we look in the mirror and think 'ok, I look younger in this' , then that is what you should wear. Maybe what you would put on when going out with friends, since that is just what we are doing. It's fun to dress casual attire up a bit, so if you want to add a bit of sparkle, feel free. This is a fun thing we are doing.
Diane, Spanx???? I've seen you recently, you don't need them. I'm pretty sure Ed and everyone at our luncheon agrees. Anyone else out there have a comment on should or shouldn't we wear Spanx? Do guys have the equivalent of these?

It's a good thing we have these reunions...it's the only tine Patton DOES change his underwear!

I appreciate all the suggestions for attire, and no, Diane, we won't mention that you can find Spanx at the lingerie department! I agree with Carol that your pictures don't indicate a need for corseting underwear. I'm still talking to Joanne about coming, and one of her obstacles is her lack of suitable clothing. I told her I'd pose this to our classmates, and I'll pass on your answers.
Glad to hear the array of answers here. Kind of like being back in high school where you dressed for school every day and hoped you wore the right thing.
Still working on the 'Spanx'. Wasn't there a group in the late 60's . . . 'Spanx and Our Gang'? I wonder if Phyllis and Diane have it spelled wrong, and it's really 'Spanks'? That would kinda make some sense, though I think this is supposed to be a PG-rated event.
I can read between the lines. No, they don't make Spanx for men.
I do understnad, Phyllis, wanting to be comfortable with what we wear that night. I truly hope this helps you and Joanne. I would imagine a jacket of some sort may also be in order.
Shoe wise, I think many willl wear flats, some heels, and some boots. I'm thinking the Friday night cocktail party wiill be pretty much the same.
I sure hope you both can make it, as it would be great to see you. Wanting to see Larry in the pink , Elvis shirt should be reason enough to come. I'm imagining a couple of buttons undone at the neck and some gold chains. Do I have it right, Larry?
Guys, want to coordinate for the evening? I suggest perhaps a linen shirt without a print, and no button-down collars -- too fussy and formal. Levi has a great new line with silver-plated rivets, very striking and masculine, will show off our muscle without constricting. And Nocona has terrific boots that would be comfortable for a long evening on our feet. I might say that the ostrich skin are especially striking. We'll look wonderful.
your wardrobe description makes me somewhat uneasy, I've long ago stopped shopping for shirts that show my muscles. Its more like 'I hope I can get into this nice 2X'. Depending on the temp in Oct, I vote for Carhart and a flashy flannel.
You might want to read the suggested apparel again. (I could be wrong, but I don't think he was talking about the shirt with the new Levi line!.) Maybe I just read too much into it.
However, I do think those Carharts he put out there would look mighty fine on a big strapping dairyman or cotton farmer!!

Us farmboys love it when ya talk that way....GIT ER DONE!!!
Tears of laughter are running down my face and I am laughing so loud my co-workers in the next building came over to see what was so funny.
I vote for the men in Carharts and flannel shirts, I love the good ole' farm boys, too. And....
the gals wearing spanx, only spanx.
Those people who are meeting Vicki Smith in the parking lot for the beer filled skirt gun dousings, might think of bringing a few extra pairs of overalls and fannel shirts.
Phyllis, little did you know what you had started.
However, I, too, am laughing myself silly. The guys are sounding like regular fashion plates, with Larry i nhis Elvis shirt at the mic talking about the latest in dairy fashion as Jerry, Gary, Meter, Billy and Louie model the 'latest'. Think we should have a fashion show? Guys only, of course.

Phyllis,
The basic uniform of the day in my life is khaki shorts and Birkenstocks. If its a casual day I wear a t-shirt. If its a dress up day I wear a Hawaiian shirt or a Guayabera. If its real dressy, I'll wear a watch. I might wear Levis if I want to make a good impression.

can see it now, hubba hubba hunks of red hot burning love!
