Randall Richard Evans, 'Big Red' to many of his friends, was born on September 7, 1951 in Hackensack, NJ. In 1967, along with his parents, Richard and Eleanor Evans, they moved to Tempe, Arizona.
Rand attended Tempe High and then went on to graduate from Arizona State University. While attending ASU he had summer jobs with both the forest service and the Bureau of Land Management. It was then his love of adventure and travel began. He was an avid hiker and fisherman and, most of all, enjoyed scuba diving all over the world's oceans.
His career was with Southern Pacific Railroad, but his love was the great outdoors.
Randall is survived by his sister, Diana Blauvelt (and her husband, Al), nephew Brett (and his wife, Nicole), nieces Gretchen (and her husband, Nate), Heidi (and her husband, Ryan) and great nieces and nephews, Mason, Harlen, Calia, Piper, Ryleigh and Cooper.
Life is a journey, not a destination. 'Big Red' truly had a life filled with adventure.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
