Tommy, you're a gem!

I didn't get in that society you mentioned and my feelings were hurt at the time. Mrs. Milner, the journalism teach, pulled me aside right afterwards and told me the reason I didn't was because I was blackballed by 1 teacher, and she told me it was the 1st year drama teacher, who hated me and the whole group in my class  - Susie Clark, Pat Willoughby, and a couple of juniors whose names I forget who had been hard on her during the senior class play.  The teacher was a married woman with a family and had a hard time making it to rehersals. One day she said something about needing time for her family, and somebody piped up, 'Give me nine months and I can have a family, too!' The teacher didn't see who said it, but I know who it was and it wasn't me!  She held that comment against all of us for the entire year. This was just a few moments in class, you understand, and I confess I laughed  along with everybody else when the comment was made. But think about those few moments sometimes, because I'm sure that's what kept me from the society Tommy  hilariously described. I can laugh now, but I surely didn't then.

Scott,

I was an honorary member of the newspaper staff, but I was on the yearbook staff. This  is how I knew Mrs. Milner. She was a wonderful teacher and only about 8 years older than all of us. I ran into her a few years later and she had  had 2 little boys and was still married to Joe Milner, a journalism prof at MCC. She lived close to the school, on Bonita Way.  It would be good to see her, but I don't know wher she is these days.

If you have your yearbook, I know they have pictures of the yearbook and newspaper staff there. Weren't you on the staff, too, Scott?

Tommy, you're a gem!
Phyllis,
No, you were the Gem, but thank you for the complement.
Tell Scott Donaldson, cause he thinks I'm an ass. Tell me which teacher
blackballed you, and I'll beat um with a rubber hose. You were brilliant
and should have been in the Honer Society

Tommy, I surely was not brilliant, but my grades were high enough that I know I was considered. The teacher was Ellen Hancock, but please don't beat her with a hose of any kind!! It's not worth going to jail over.

I didn't know you were so funny!

See you at the reunion.

Your right. I won't beat that teacher with a rubber hose,I'll use an
ice cycle and stab her in the heart, Which doesn't leave any evidence!
I had to attain a sense of humor, I had two Daughters, a wife and two
female dogs. When we went to Sam's club I bought two boxes of Tampax
and two cases of beer, I think you know what the beer was for!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my gosh! Tommy W. (not to be confused with Tommy S) you are coming on to the website with a bang.

Good job Phyllis for keeping them on the right track. So good to see you in there with the 'dawgs'.

What did Greg Campbell call his dad? 'Rude dawg'? Didn't that become a household word. Or a skateboard or sumpin?

Vicki

They're dawgs?

I thought they were guys I kinda sorta remember from high school... and probably much cooler than I gave them credit for.

I've enjoyed reading the postings from everybody. I've gotten some good laughs. For instance, I always thought the barn party was some school sanctioned event I missed, and now I know it was a kegger in the boonies that went wrong.  Glad nobody got hurt...! And it's still a topic of conversation 40 years later. Just like Whatley's pea green Rambler with the laydown seats.  He still remembers it. So does Scott Donaldson and Bob Hicks.

So, Vickie, I guess if bantering with these guys means I'm running with the dawgs, then 'arf!'

I know- You know what?

I check this website twice a Day. Waiting for the next good laugh. You guys are all so Positive. I like the up beat. Whatley came on fast and heavy and I wait from him for the the next thing to crack me up with. All you ladies make me laugh. In the days of the little motorcycle gang all I can say and I thought of this one while getting stuff done yesterday - I have to ask PATTON. Did we ever stop laughing back then? Ted should tell everyone about his making of the Psychadelic Movie. I think it involved Delamater to in the making. Almost a Wallace and Ladmo skit.

I remember Whatley and Patton always talking about Captain Kangaroo. Dancing Bear was Vicki's favorite.

Louie:
What have you been smoking?  Capt. Kangaroo and Mr. Green Jeans???  If that is ' Just A Thought'  then you have definitely have more than a few braincells on fugitve status!!  LOL!
You are right, we were always laughing!  It was fun, often hilarious.  The laughter helped cover the confusion and insecurity, but also helped us feel 'a part of' instead of 'apart from'.  It is still working that way for me today.  I  check this board 2-3 times a day and often giggle/laugh myself silly.  I feel 'a part of' still today.  It is good to know so many of us are still here and still learning.   I Will Not miss this reunion!!  --Gary

It probably is easy for the thought train to leave the station after spending so many hours flying around Tempe on a Honda Trail 90!

Just when I thought there was nothing left to write about. How you doin Don? I have not checked the Who's Going List in a week. Are you going to the Reunion? Hope So!!! I also can not believe how great this Website is.

I also can not believe how 'Popular my Trail 90 Was'. Hahahahahahaha, me cracking up. I had not used that Trail 90 for a few years back then. It came up Stolen and I did not Report it. I figured if someone was that excited to have it, they could just have it. Not long ago I found the Title to it. So I still have the Title guys  {: I should make copies for all of you. Just kidding. I also came accross a Trail 90 at a yard sale in Vegas. It even ran. I went home and decided I should buy it. But they sold it before I got back there.

So what have you been up to Don???

Hey Louie;
My wife (Phx Union Class of 66) and I are retired and live in Happy Jack, with 2 Australian Cattle dogs and 8 chickens.  I retired almost 3 years ago and we have been here fulltime for a little over 2 years now.  We still have a couple houses in Mesa (yes it was a culture shock when we moved to Mesa 6 years ago).  I tramped around Az and the southwest for several years, working construction.  I wound up running the union for 6 years, and after that short tenure I had suffeciently pissed off most of the contractors in AZ and couldn't buy a job.  So now I am forced to wake up in paradise every morning.  We go to Flagstaff nearly every week for supplies and doctor visits.  It would be great to get together.
