Hello and Thanks

Hello All,

What a great website.  It’s so cool to reminisce of days long past.  Thanks to those all those who have made this website possible.  The year book pictures are awesome.  It was really fun jogging the old brain cells and bringing back so many memories from the subconscious.

I haven’t been in touch with any of my old classmates at all since about 1972 or so.  I doubt anyone even remembers me now.  In school I was the shy, skinny, buck-toothed kid.  Now I’m the smart assed fat guy with no teeth.  But hey, after 40 years of drug and alcohol abuse I’m just lucky to still be alive and kicking.

I’m now living in upstate NY.  I’ve got a great job, an even greater wife, and no kids to worry about.  Despite all that’s happening in the world and country today, life is still pretty damn good.  I know I’ve been lucky.  Maybe that THS education was good for something after all.

Speaking of education, way to go Harry Mitchell.  I was so happy to see that he was elected to Congress.   I hope that 20 bucks I sent him had a little something to do with it.  Now I keep getting emails for more $$.  Hey Harry, I don’t even live in your district, or state.  Stop with the solicitations, k?  LOL…just kidding.

I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to come to the reunion.  When I first heard about it I thought my chances of coming were slim.  But now after finding this site, my curiosity has been sufficiently aroused to the point that I just may find a way to make it.  If my wife can get the time off from her job we’ll come for sure.  If not, I may still come by myself…we’ll see.

Anyone who happens to remember me and wants to say hi, send an email to gwaldeck@frontiernet.net

Late,
G

Gary,
Hope you can attend the reunion.  I know I've met several classmates online that I didn't know in HS.  Like I said to Louis, 'If you're waiting for the 50th reunion, just think we'll be almost 70yrs. old!'  Hope to meet you in October.

Hi Diane,

My wife Donna and I will definitely be coming to the reunion.  I made plane reservations a couple of weeks ago.  It ought to be very interesting to say the least.  Really looking forward to meeting you and everyone else in October.

Gary

I remember you, you may not remember me, but I'm glad you're coming. The website is a good idea, it sparked my interest also.

Jerry

Of course I remember you Jerry.  I think I saw every basketball game for the 4 years we were there.  Lefty, good outside shot from the corner, right?  Too bad they didn't have the 3 pointer back then, eh?

Your memory gives me too much credit :), my shooting ability was of less use to the team than my ability to foul people. Coach used me as a strong arm player cause he knew it would be no big loss if I fouled out. Ed Grant and I used to joke we should bring a TV to the games to give us something to do on the bench!  :)

Jerry, I guess my memory is kinda flawed at this point.  But there was a guy who did make a lot of shots from the corner.  Can't remember his name now.  I think maybe he was from the class of 68 or 67.  Dammit, now I'm going to go nuts trying to remember his name.  Hmmmmm???

Help me out here folks...

Jim Webb maybe?  Did we have someone by that name on the team in 67 or 68?

Could it be DeGrande you're thinking of?  He was a guard. Can't remember his first name now(Jim?). Doggone memory!

It was Paul DeGrande who was a guard in '67, and Jim Babb had the smooth shot from the corner. DeGrande, Babb, Kevin English, Winn Chadwick made quite a team in 67. At least you right about me being a lefty.

Yes  Steve,  there was a guard named Paul DiGrande I think he was.  Really good ball player as I recall.  (for what that's worth.  LOL)  But that's not the one I'm trying to remember.  I remember a forward who used to hit shots from the corner all the time.  And it wasn't Kevin English either.

**keeps scratching head, hoping for the brain cells to wake up**

Oh! Oh!  Jim Babb?????

Thanks Jerry...you were replying the same time I was.  Good, now maybe I can get back to work and get something done before the end of the day!  :)

Sure I remember you Gary....I think you were they only other 'Gary' I knew.  I doubt you rember me though.  I too was one of those geeky kids.  And don't feel bad Gary.....I was 117 lbs dripping wet at 17.....well add 40 years and 90 lbs, subtract the hair and there I am.

Maybe the shooter you were looking was John Blue, he was a lefty as well.  John was my neighbor all through high school.  he also played baseball...had a curve ball NO ONE could hit.  Dennis F. was the only person who could catch him.

Hi Gary,

I remember you too.  Us Garys, and I would include Mr. Patton too, couldn't help but notice each other.

BTW everyone, my wife and I are currently on a road trip vacation.  We're in Rapid City, South Dakota at the moment.  I have a blog chronicling our trip.  For anyone interested in a laugh, check it out here...

Hey Gary -- of course I remember you!  You were quiet, but so was I.  I think we were all a little self conscious in HS.  Now, we are who we are, several decades of lessons and wisdom under our belts and I think the yearning to reminisce with others we shared our youth with.  I think when you grow up with someone and experience the everyday ups and downs (A's and F's) ha!, successes and discouragements, there is a bond that develops that is really special.  I think we had a special class even though there were quite a few in it.  I think we're all starting to realize the strengths and contributions we can make to each other in re-discovering old friendships.  I know I wasn't able to socialize or attend school functions much in HS, so it's nice now to be able to come to this site and talk.  I think it was a super idea!
Glad you will be at the reunion ~
Carol

Hi Carol,

I remember you too.  I'm sure we must have had a few classes together during the four years at THS.  Just don't ask me to remember which ones.  LOL  I'm really amazed at how much some of the folks posting here can remember.  Especially Larry and Louie.

I was a shy guy in high school, and still am somewhat.  But it's easier to be outgoing here online.  I'm really looking forward to the reunion and meeting you and all the people I've met here, most of which I didn't really know very well back in '69.  Most (maybe all) the guys I hung out with have not posted here.  Hopefully one or two will show up at the reunion.

Hello Gary,
We also go back a long way, how are you?
I was reading through the hits on your input. You know,
remember?, we had one of best basketball Teams at THS under
coach Sammy Duane. Went to state, but got beat by (O-god)
Tuscon. I think the starters were : Ed Combs, Mike Ehasz, Ed
Grant, Mike Hutchings, & John Blue.

Hi Tommy,

I'm doing real well, thanks.  Hope you are too.  The wife and I are on vacation at the moment.  Getting ready to go to Yellowstone Park.

Looking forward to seeing you again at the reunion.  I don't remember reading a bio for you in the Contact Classmates section.  What have you been up to all these years?

Hey Tommy,

What am I doing living in New York you ask?  Well, just like most of us I guess, I’m just working at my job, paying my bills, and hoping to make it to retirement in a few years.

I originally came here back in 1982.  I was in love and followed “her” out here.  To make a long story short, she broke my heart but I kinda liked it here, so I decided to stick around a while.  I got a decent job, met another woman, got a better job, broke up again, got a better woman, got married (17 years now come October) and that’s about it.

And of course I remember watching the World Series in PE.  I think I can remember one of my teachers at Mitchell bringing in a TV for the series too.  Those were the days.  I hate that they play the games at night now, especially here in the East when they don’t start until 9:00.  I’m getting too damn old to stay awake late enough to watch them anymore.
