Great picture of Bryn 'doing her thing'. She's really beautiful.
Music giftedness is foreign to our family (they do have other gifts, however). How old is the viola, and where did you get it? Was it in the family? Bet it's older than we are.
Diane, thanks for your compliment. She got the viola at a shop in Paris when she was in high school. It's over 300 years old, made before Bach was born. It would be worth a lot, except that it has a crack in the back (which has been repaired). It has a terrific mellow sound.
Larry,
I agree with Diane, your wife is so pretty. Wow, a 300 year old viola! How did she come to own it? I be she plays beautifully. I love the sound of string instruments. What a wonderful thing to be gifted with musical talent.
Thanks for sharing her picture.
I agree with Diane and Gail about the viola and the picture of your wife. Just owning an instrument that old is really amazing! It was made at the dawn of the 18th century - do you know where or by whom? Sometimes this type of provenance is known and sometimes not. In any regard, it is something to be treasured. Like Campbell's bowls will be in the future... I also own 3 of them and have given away at least 2 as gifts. Too bad they don't make music, but they are something special nonetheless.
As much as I razzed Greg about his bowels . . . I mean bowls, I have to admit we have two, have purchased two for presents, and I think Bryn's parents have one or two. They're just darned gorgeous.
The provenance on the viola is that it belonged to Gypsy's, and was supposedly thrown from a wagon as they were being run out of a town. But no one really knows.
Great photo of you too! Where do you find the time, as you seem to wear so many 'hats' (in the best sense of the word)? Do you have your own studio to paint in at the house? Genie Davis does. She has canvases as big as a door, and has done some beautiful creations. Carol Hurlebaus has too, paintings as well as murals. Pat G. talked about maybe starting a link with the art of our classmates. I think we'd have allot of contributors.
Question: I have a makeup brush just like the one your holding, and isn't that a saucer from the kitchen you have your paint on? Maybe we should start a supply fund for you. JK
Diane, where did you buy your makeup brush? You're right about the dish I'm holding. It's a cheap, white ceramic serving dish -- easy to see colors better against the white, and easy to clean acrylics off of it. My 'studio' is a corner of our bedroom. It's okay, but feels cramped at times.
Would be great to have an art corner on the site. Wish people could post jpeg files of their music, too. We have some players and singers in the bunch, I think.
Alright! More photos. The two in her arms have to be twins, and the older one looks about 2yrs. WOW! She's going to be a busy Mom. Is that your daughter or daughter-in-law?
I was 2yrs old when my Mom brought home my twin brother and sister, and I had a 4yr. old sister. Don't know how she did it. I do find that God gives us the strength to face life however it unfolds.
Our 4 kids were 2yrs. apart almost to the day. It was perpetual motion for several years, always changing a diaper, tying somebody's shoes, or running a carpool.
One of the many blessings that came out of their closness in age was that they had allot in common growing up. They are still very close to each other as adults as well.
Thanks for posting those.
Ladies (Belle, Denise, Gail, Linda, and Phyllis),
Two words: Pictures please! Just email Pat (Donovan) Gill to help you post them. She's a wiz on this computer thingy.
Diane
Yes! Another photo! Love the picture of you and your family. Looking at Garrett is like looking at YOU 40yrs. ago. Which one played football? Looks like a happy group and the sweat isn't even visable. Aren't grandkids great? Thanks so much for posting that.
Disne,
The football player is Garrett. He plays for the Viking tight end /fullback #45. They will be starting camp in the nexted few weeks and works until Febuary and hpoefully a little longer this year. Playoff games pay pretty good. Jake the other son played football and started his freshman year and then decided that paying for school would be much better than a full scholarship. Right! he is not a math major. He has only 6 hours left so maybe he'll finsh this year. You are so right about the grandkids more fun than i ever had. thanks
That's priceless. Not too many names I don't recognize. Solo, huh, Phyllis, and you don't remember? I would have remembered wetting my pants! How about the instrumentalists: The Cole twins; Gary Patton; Greg Fulgum; Gail Vesper and more. What instruments did you guys play? That must have been one big concert. Was it your Mom that saved those, Louis? While I don't remember that particular concert necessarily, I do remember the Christmas concerts in general and the excitement that accompanied them. It meant Christmas vacation, and presents in my little 11yr. old mind. Thanks for the memories.
BTW, I told you Pat was a 'wiz' on this computer thingy.
I do not know how they had us all standing together at Cosner. But I think we all sang at the same time. I Played the Accordian back then, but not that Night. Weird thing is we all remember what we were doing when JFK got killed back then. But we can't remember this. HAH!!!
Ok, I do remember the square dancing, I do remember having Mr. Scales for band in 4th and 5th grade when I played the trumpet, but I do not remember this Christmas Concert. Guess I liked the square dancing better OR someone I got to dance with! lol! By the way, who played trumpet with me in the 4th and 5th grade? I went to Mitchell and Holdeman. I was thinking it was 6th too, but I can't remember.
I really do remember the night of the concert, not everything about it, but where I was standing and what direction we were facing (we were on the east side of the room facing west). It stands out, maybe, because of something my dad said -- he didn't like the song 'Let There Be Peace On Earth'. Also, one of my heart throbs was Cindy Beaulieu and her mom sometimes subbed for Mrs. Coghill.
Cindy wound up choosing another boy over me, and my life was never the same. I sunk into the dark world of model cars and hanging out at the chin up bars, doing gymnastic tricks with other heartbroken rejects.
Jerry, you should be on a kitchen program. Really. You look like a happy cook. Nice lookin' helper, too. Right behind you in the market photo is the place where the fish vendors throw fish. Did you see them? Please do NOT distribute this photo too much. People think it rains all the time here and we don't to dispell the myth.

Larry
we watched the fish throwers, what a kick, those guys are good!
Jerry,
What wonderful pictures of you and Christie. I swear, Christie looks the same as she did in high school. Actually, she looks the same as she did in grade school. You two are a darling couple. When I see your pictures I can't help but smile and be happy. Since, you have created the 'never a dull moment' on this website, I am sure there is never a dull moment with you and Christie on any scene. That was pretty sauvvy of to get clear weather while you were in Seattle.
Jerry, great pictures of you and Christie. You could tell you were having a wonderful time. Bet she made some homemade biscuits to go with that jam too. How much did the shopping trip set you back? lol!
