Many of you may have known coach Jim Lambeth. He coached PE and football. He had a what appeared to be a heart attack this afternoon and passed away. Jim was also in the cotton business, and we met in the field quite often. Some of the 'jocks' might remember he was called the watermelon farmer. He grew melons in Casa Grande and also worked at THS. He was a special guy and I'm gonna miss his down home humor and cotton savy. So long amigo
Jerry, sorry to hear about coach Lambeth. He was a great guy. While some coaches seemed to always have their game faces on he was always laughing and sometimes telling jokes. I think he was the line coach. He could not have been that old. Too bad.

That is sad news. I have not had the opportunity to see Coach Lambeth for many years last time was probably 1970. There has not been a time that I've thought about or talk about football that i have not thought about him. That's not completely true because he taught us more than football. He had away of teaching you about life and you really never knew it at the time. There has been many events in my life that i could then recall the lesson that he had taught us or the situation that would come up and the light would go on and you would think about what Coach warned you about.
I always have had and will have great respect for him. So may thought he was just a country bumpkin, he may have talked a little funny to some but he was a man of great intelligence, great humor, and a great love for his fellowman. He might have been the first to start the tough love program long before it had a name. I'm sure he gave back a heck of a lot more than he ever took.
If i had to go to war I would want him in my fox hole!
Always remembered never forgotten 'here's to you Coach Lambeth!!'
