Body:	<i>Diane, that is a long walk. I had a friend (Gary Meshew, '70) who lived in north Tempe. Our moms were at the pool with all the kids one day, and Gary and I wanted to go home early. We walked from Tempe Beach across the bridge, then all the way on Curry Road to their house north of Woolco . . . barefooted. We wound up scrounging some scraps of cardboard, would run until our feet were burning, then stop and stand on the cardboard to relieve the heat. When our moms found out, they thought we were crazy. And speaking of Baskin-Robbins. My dad was on a business trip once, and B-R was having a 2 for 1 special on banana splits, so my mom took us there . . . for dinner.</i> *
